We are serious about character development and work hard to use our coaching influence with these special young boys and girls. We focus on a specific set of values to teach our athletes. These are Respect, Leadership, Courage, Integrity, Compassion and Commitment.
We also have a program called Be that Guy/Gal. That encourages our players to reach out to others who may be in need. Whether it’s a socially awkward student, a new person in their class, or someone with a disability we ask them to be a hero and make these people their friends. We also ask them to “Be that Guy/Gal” who does some act of kindness. Each day before practice, athletes share their stories about how they helped someone else. On game-day, one of our “Be that Guy/Gal” heroes gets to lead his/her team onto the field carrying the PowerHouse Pride flag.
Each day at practice and at games each team is led in prayer by another player or coach then all players are asked to pray for the person in front of them with just a simple prayer of protection. Our goal is to develop young people who are bold in their faith and willing to stand up for what they believe in.
All of our players & cheerleaders are required to complete 1 community service project as a team each season. We believe in giving back to our community while teaching our athletes how important it is to give back.
PowerHouse hands out academic awards at the end of each season. If your athlete is in need of assistance with school we will work closely with you, the athlete & their teacher to help the athlete succeed. We will also work with the parent to assist in securing a tutor if needed.
We have implemented a new program that integrates all the athletes and brings all ages together while giving the younger athletes someone to look up to. The older athletes will be mentors or Big Brothers/Big Sisters to the Mighty Mites, Tiny Mites & Cheerleaders. We will pick a practice where the Varsity Team will go down to the MM’s & JV will go down with TM’s for 15-20 Min. They will be grouped by their positions so they younger athletes can see what a future athlete in their position looks like. At our Homecoming Games we will ask all athletes to either arrive early or stay late to cheer on their Big Brother/Little Brother. For Cheer, Our Veteran Cheerleader Nicole will be back to be the Big Sis to our Cheerleaders.
